Why is it important for your child to study Spanish?
Spanish now counts toward university admission in Hong Kong.
Starting in 2025, the HKDSE (Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education) includes Spanish among its Category C language subjects, taught alongside official cultural institutions and assessed through certified international exams. For Spanish, that exam is the DELE (Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera).
Reaching at least level A2 in the DELE is now included in the HKDSE results report, and that result directly translates into extra points for university admission through JUPAS:
- University of Hong Kong (HKU): a C1 or C2 level in the DELE is equivalent to the maximum DSE score (5**) and grants 8.5 extra points in the admissions calculation. (HKU – JUPAS)
- Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK): a C2 level in the DELE is equivalent to a 5* on the DSE and adds 7 extra points. (CUHK – JUPAS)
- Other universities (HKUST, CityU, HKBU, PolyU, Lingnan, EdUHK) also recognize the subject, each with its own conversion scheme — which is why it's key to check each institution's requirements when planning your child's academic path.

Everything you need to know
For regular individual and DELE classes, parents must provide at least 24 hours' notice to reschedule a class without losing it. If the absence is reported on the same day, the class can only be rescheduled with a medical justification or other force majeure reason. Without a valid justification, the class is forfeited.
For group classes, an individual absence results in the loss of that class. If the family wishes to make up the missed session individually, a regular individual class must be paid for. A group class can only be rescheduled at no additional cost when the change applies to the entire group and is agreed upon collectively.

Although we sell complete academic programs by level — 60 classes per level (such as A1.1) — billing is done in monthly installments (4 classes a month) for the family's convenience, with no large upfront payments or hidden enrollment fees.
Before starting, our academic team runs a short, free online assessment to place your child in the right age group and level (Seed, Root, Trunk, or Flower).
